Troubleshooting
Power Problems
If the DVR does not turn on 30 seconds after you turn the ignition switch on:
• Does the DVR turn on if you press the TEMP POWER button for 5 seconds? See
related troubleshooting procedures below if it does not turn on.
• Is the yellow wire from the power and ignition harness connected to the ignition
switch?
• Is the 1A inline fuse blown? If it is blown, determine why it blew before replacing it.
If the DVR does not turn on when you press the button for 5 seconds: TEMP POWER
• Is the 10A inline fuse blown? If it is blown, determine why it blew before replacing it.
• Is the power and ignition harness plugged into the DVR termination panel
securely?
• Is the power harness from the DVR connected as close to the battery (or master
battery switch) as possible? See the
Power and Ignition Harness wiring
instructions on page
9.
• Is the red LOW VOLTAGE light on the front panel of the DVR on steady? Measure the
input voltage and determine why it is below 10.5 VDC.
• Is the red LOW/HIGH TEMP light on the front panel of the DVR flashing? Wait for the
DVR heater and fan to bring the internal temperature of the DVR back to a normal
operating temperature of 40°F to 113°F (5°C to 45°C).
If the DVR turns on but does not start recording:
• Did you wait until the end of the delay-on time to see if recording starts? See the
Record Menu configuration instructions on page 24 to determine the delay-on time.
• Are the green disk drive power lights on? Make sure the disk drives are properly
inserted and locked.
• Are the recording timers enabled? If they are enabled, the DVR will not start
recording until the current time is within one of the enabled timer periods. See the
Timer Settings Menu instructions on page 21.
• Is the red
LOW/HIGH TEMP light on the front panel of the DVR flashing? Wait for the
DVR heater and fan to bring the internal temperature of the DVR back to a normal
operating temperature of 40°F to 113°F (5°C to 45°C).
• Is the red
LOW VOLTAGE light on the front panel of the DVR on steady? Measure the
input voltage and determine why it is below 10.5 VDC.
